About the Challenge

Uraan AI Techathon 1.0 is Pakistan's first national AI-focused techathon, uniting students, professionals, and researchers to develop innovative solutions across 12 thematic areas. This flagship initiative goes beyond traditional hackathons by offering participants a unique opportunity to transform their ideas into impactful solutions. Winning teams will receive cash awards, mentorship, incubation support, and opportunities to commercialize their solutions through collaboration with government and industry partners.

Phase 1 (1 Sept – 10 Oct)

Teams work on sub-problems or can submit their already available project/startup

Submit the entry form available on website and later on we will contact you via your mentioned email to submit the code

Phase 2 (Techathon Day, Islamabad)

Shortlisted teams will be invited for techathon day at Islamabd after the evaluation of phase -1

Teams will be evaluated by judged and technical evaluation committee

Winners announced the same day.

Phase 3 ( Incubation & Mentorship)

Winning teams receive mentorship, cloud resources, and pilot opportunities to launch real products/services

Q1. What is Uraan AI Techathon 1.0?
Uraan AI Techathon 1.0 is Pakistan’s first national AI competition launched by the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives under the E-Pakistan Uraan Program. It aims to harness AI to solve Pakistan’s most pressing challenges across 12 thematic areas.
  • Students, startups, professionals, interns, and innovators from across Pakistan can participate.
  • Each team must have at least one student (currently enrolled) or one intern.
There are 12 thematic areas including healthcare, agriculture, fintech, governance, climate, and others. Each thematic area contains a main problem statement and sub-problems.

The Techathon consists of three phases:

  • Phase 1 (Online): Teams work on selected problem statements or submit their own project ideas.
  • Phase 2 (Onsite in Islamabad): Shortlisted teams compete in a one-day Techathon event.
  • Phase 3 (Incubation): Winners receive 6 months of incubation and mentorship to commercialize their solutions.

Each of the 12 thematic areas includes carefully designed problem statements that reflect Pakistan's real challenges. Teams may select one and develop their solution accordingly.
